Get to know Steve Miller
Steve Miller is a 3rd generation farmer and rancher on the Camas Prairie located in Camas County, Idaho. He grew up on a dryland farm and attended Camas County schools. He operates the farming portion of a family farm and ranch located in Camas and Blaine Counties. Steve’s wife, Cheryl Sandy Miller, has never met a stranger and has a lively interest in politics! Cheryl spent years in ministry outreach, has a master’s in clinical psychology and a love for helping people. Steve has 3 children. Nancy is a Navy Doctor serving in San Diego. James manages farming operations and serves in the Idaho National Guard. Andrew is a structural engineer located in Boise.
Steve graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Idaho and returned to the family farm. He has been active in the promotion of organic production being a founding member in the Idaho Organic Producers Association and serving on the Organic Advisory Committee for the Idaho Department of Agriculture. The family operated Camas Grain, marketing organic products such as flour, multi grain cereal, and specialty foods to retail and industrial users throughout the West. The farm grows and markets organic hay and hard red wheat.
Steve has been active in local government serving on Planning & Zoning board, Economic Development, and as a Camas County Commissioner.
Steve has a history of resource management. He has been a supervisor for the Camas Conservation District since 1978. He was a director for the Idaho Association of Conservation Districts (IASCD), President of IASCD for 2 years, served on the National Association of Conservation Districts (NACD) board of directors for 6 years, Executive Board member, and was elected Secretary/Treasurer for NACD.
Steve is currently serving his 10th year in the House of Representatives for Legislative District 24 Seat B in the Idaho Legislature. His committee assignments are House Vice Chair of Joint Finance-Appropriations Committee(JFAC), Agricultural Affairs, and Resources and Conservation.
